Our Weekend menu

Our resident chef, Ingo Meissner (ST. ALi, Fitzrovia & Outpost Cafe) will be taking us on a culinary journey, with a focus on traditional home-style cooking with a twist. The menu is a little more indulgent than usual, celebrating 'gate to plate' seasonal produce, traditional High tea with a twist and homemade cakes and sweet treats.

The 'Pop-up for Charity' café initiative at the Reading Room Cafe. For 8 weekends, we will be donating 20% of proceeds to charities & organisations in the Footscray 3011 and local area. Reserve your table for this weekend. 20% of proceeds will be donated.

Week 6 - Starlight Foundation

19/20.5 This weeks charity we are supporting this weekend is the Starlight foundation! Starlight brightens the lives of seriously ill children, and their families, throughout Australia. Get behind us while eating for a great cause - this Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th, 8am-4pm.. {visit website }

Week 6 - Melbourne Basket Brigade

12/13.5 $800 raised our Basket Brigade friends. Their mission is to procure and distribute hampers of food and gifts to individuals and families in need and provide assistance to people living in financial distress. {visit website }

Week 5 - TLC for Kids

5/6.5 $700 over the weekend :) Thanks to our customers for helping us support TLC for Kids - Australia's fastest support for all kids and families in hospital. {visit website }

Week 4 - Bikes for Humanity

28/29.4 $750 raised in two days! Thanks for the support for Bicycles For Humanity is a world wide, grass roots, volunteer run organisation focused on simple, sustainable empowerment in the developing world. { visit website }

JAPANESE COLD DRIP
Very popular in Japan and through Asia, it is a filtered coffee made by slowly adding cold water to ground beans drop by drop. Each batch takes 6-8 hours but the result is a surprisingly smooth coffee with powerful flavours and a thick syrupy texture. Also tastes great with cold milk.

COFFEE OF THE DAY/ SINGLE ORIGIN
We will be featuring a different third option from small plantations whose unique flavour really grab our attention as well as roasts from other micro roasters from around Melbourne.

Note to our Weekend customers

Our Weekend menu will not be available on Sunday, June 24th '12. Our cafe will be open, however VU will be holding their Open day in the forecourt of the cafe. Coffees and our fast 'n fresh weekday selection will be available through the day.
